Cobonpue® Wave Dining Table

The Wave Dining Table transforms solid walnut into a rhythmic, almost fluid structure, with repeated timber elements arranged to suggest the movement and changing direction of water. Its sculptural base twists and folds beneath an expansive clear glass top, allowing the construction to remain visible from above and from every angle around the table. The warmth and pronounced grain of walnut provide an organic counterpoint to the precision and transparency of the glass, while the three-metre length gives the piece a distinctly architectural presence. Designed by Kenneth Cobonpue, Wave sits somewhere between functional furniture and large-scale sculpture.

Design Details

• Solid walnut base — repeated timber elements create the table’s flowing, wave-like structure while emphasising the natural grain and tonal variation of walnut.
• Sculptural construction — the 2375mm-long base shifts through a series of curves and opposing forms, creating a different silhouette according to the viewing angle.
• Clear glass top — a 12mm-thick, 3000 × 1000mm glass surface reveals the detailed construction below rather than concealing it.

Why It Works

• Transparency and mass — clear glass gives visual space around the substantial walnut base, allowing its form to remain the dominant element.
• Movement within a large footprint — rather than reading as a single heavy volume, the repeated timber sections create rhythm and changing negative space along the table’s three-metre length.
• Material contrast — warm walnut works particularly well alongside restrained upholstery, stone, plaster and other natural finishes, where the complexity of the base can remain visually distinct.

FAQs

How large is the Wave Dining Table?
The glass top measures 3000mm long × 1000mm wide and is 12mm thick. The walnut base measures 2375mm wide × 460mm deep × 740mm high. Its scale should be considered alongside adequate circulation and chair space around the table.

How should the table be cared for?
Wave is designed for indoor use. Clean the table with a soft, damp cloth and avoid abrasive cleaning materials that could affect the timber or glass surfaces.

Will the walnut look exactly like the photographs?
Walnut is a natural timber, so some variation in grain and colour should be expected. These differences will subtly change the appearance of the repeated timber elements across the sculptural base.
